Obsidian is a kenku girl and one of The Collector’s Gems. She formed a close bond with Oolong and backed the Cacklers when it counted.
History
At the tournament’s opening ceremony, Obsidian was the third Gem to perform, singing a haunting melody in a mix of bird sounds and mimicked voices.
After the tournament, she traveled with Sophie and the Cacklers to West City. When that mission went wrong, the Collector sent both her and Sophie back to their barracks. Sophie pleaded for Obsidian to be spared any punishment, but the Collector dismissed them. Before leaving, Obsidian gave Oolong a long, eight-second hug and told him, “no matter where you go, we are family,” leaving a plucked feather behind as she walked away.
During the escape from the stadium courtyard, with Sophie rampaging through North City as a T-rex, Obsidian reappeared next to Oolong and swore the oath, “Don’t left behind.” When an airborne enemy tracked them, Obsidian upheld “no bird left behind,” launched off the T-rex’s back, and landed the killing blow. The Collector’s wanted ad then accused Sophie of kidnapping her.
In the final showdown with the Collector, he trapped Obsidian and Oolong together in a cage of force, joking that he’d “kill two birds with one cage.”
