Thaddeus Toffington is a high-level prosecutor for the Velvet Truffle Company. He interrogated Catman and organized the trap at the gallows.
History
In Session 81, Toffington questioned Catman, strapped to a table in an interrogation room at the Outer Wharf of the Saline Coast. Catman deflected with jokes until Toffington brought up his parents.
Toffington declared that the city needed stability, which the company had provided. He accused Catman of setting fire to company vessels in the harbor and stealing something valuable from company stores. When Catman demanded a public trial, Toffington told him those rights had been suspended, and that his trial would be quick and end in a quick drop. He laid out the case: witnesses, including merfolk, had described a masked cat and a man impersonating Thalorian Valedriss committing a hate crime the night before Thalorian turned up dead, with Catman caught in the building. The VTC is pinning Thalorian’s and Lazra Vant’s deaths on Catman and doesn’t need his confession.
When Catman warned that the Fellowship was resourceful, cunning and crazy as hell, Toffington said they would plan for it anyway. He then had Catman brought to a hangar, where at his prompting Khalor the Dreamreaper shapeshifted into Catman’s mirror image.
