The fight against Eldon Reed, in his true form as the Bloodhowler, began in chaos. The Bloodhowler quickly brought Wilbur down with a devastating smite. Squeebles bravely tried to step in and protect his new companions, and was killed, crushed into the ground by the Bloodhowler’s glaive. Nelda was stunned and horrified, and she too was struck down as she tried to flee.
More creatures emerged from the nearby treeline, but help arrived. Wilbur, despite his wounds, landed a shot from his laser pistol from a distance and struck the Bloodhowler across the face. Then a towering cloud giant appeared. It was an illusion created by a half-orc named Nodur of the IronJaw Clan. Nodur explained that the Bloodhowler had destroyed his village, that he had been hunting the monster ever since, and that he used a magical deck of cards to create illusions as distractions.
With the Bloodhowler distracted, Nodur helped the group escape, and they retreated to Ellery’s home with her Saiyan clan. There her clan leader, Prince Vegeta, confronted her about her absence and challenged her to a sparring match to show what she had learned in the outside world. Ellery lost the intense duel but earned Vegeta’s respect. Before they left, Vegeta gave her a mysterious crescent-shaped yellow item and told her to use it only as a last resort against the creature they faced. He also tasked her with finding Kakarot.
