Quick facts
Campaign: Campaign 2 · Session: 60 of 83 · Arc: North City and the Cell Games · Where: The Underdark; North City, Ye Olde Inn, Cackler Barrel
After a grueling battle full of deadly eye rays, Nelda ended it by using a thunderwave to shove the beholder into a lingering cloud of daggers, which shredded it. As the journey continued, The Whisper led Wilbur to a plateau overlooking a distant, glowing city of gnomes, held there against their will by their government (Coghaven). Wilbur found a soot-covered metal flower that triggered a series of visions of his father and a childhood in a city engulfed by fire. They ended with a directive to be a “Savior of the Broken, the Beaten and the Damned.”
The party snuck past a deep dragon sleeping inside a waterfall, eventually reached the surface, and entered North City through a manhole cover. They took rooms at Ye Olde Inn, a historic building once associated with the legendary Cacklers. Looking for Ellery’s missing friend, Kip cast a scrying spell on Cabba using a tunic Ellery provided. The spell showed Cabba floating unconscious in a blue-green stasis tank, hooked to wires and watched over by automated drones in a high-tech facility. Nelda wandered the city to visit her old school and mourn her father, while Ellery used her energy sense to track a familiar signature to the Cackler Barrel.
Inside the crowded tavern, Ellery confronted Prince Vegeta, who brushed off her concerns. Then the Whisper arrived and dropped his human illusion, revealing his true form: an imposing, purple-skinned mind flayer. He accused Vegeta of executing his race, and the Saiyan prince did not deny it. Before a full brawl could break out among the patrons, Bulma Briefs stepped in, using a mechanical arm from the ceiling to teleport the combatants and the party to a remote field outside the city, where the party faced Vegeta ready for battle.
