Daask Bruiser was a hunched gnoll with spiky red hair, a special agent of the Velvet Truffle Company’s Sugar Cartel. He captured Catman and served as the VTC’s executioner at the gallows.
History
Catching the cat (Session 81)
On the night Thalorian Valedriss died, Catman knocked a vase off a shelf while eavesdropping at the Valedriss estate. Daask caught his scent and dropped onto the balcony. When Catman tried to grapple him, Daask trapped him in a shrinking detention orb and told him, “You’re not prey because you lost. You lost because you’re prey,” before slipping the orb into his pocket.
The gallows (Sessions 81–83)
Daask was the executioner at the gallows in Splendor Festival Square. When the trap was sprung, he pulled out an axe and a hook on a long chain. Catman threw something carrying his scent into a corner, and Daask swallowed it whole. Nelda caught him in a cloud of daggers that tore at him through the fight, and he took it as an affront to his masculinity. He “pronounced sentence” on her and buried his axe in her collarbone until she fell. Escher put an arrow straight through his nostril. Daask stepped over Nelda, spat on her, and promised to get to her in a minute.
Nelda answered with a phantasmal killer that showed him his deepest fear: his hands covered in long nails and pink nail polish. He dropped his axe, but recovered enough to slam another detention orb into Catman. Wilbur held a gun to his face, told him “you’re smaller than I will ever be,” and shot him in the head, then told Nelda they wouldn’t tolerate what had been done to her.
Daask still clung to the orb until Masha wrenched it from his grip with a mage hand, and he screamed about the cat’s “tricks.” Nelda held him in place with a spell, and Escher put an arrow through the back of his throat. He died still held, his last sentence unfinished.
