Quick facts

Type: Celestial mystery · First warning: Session 11 · Status: Unexplained

Stars are going out over Arlia. Constellations have been changing, single stars have flared and vanished, and more than one person has been left repeating the same warning: “the stars aren’t right.”

Timeline

  • Mayor Windrider’s warning. When Wilbur broke into Salt Spun Manor, the poisoned and delirious Eliza Windrider told him “the numbers” were wrong and the “stars are not right.” Once Sylas healed her, she repeated it, and explained that a friend had pointed out the constellations were changing and the stars were not where they should be. It was one of her last clear memories before she fell ill.
  • Kip’s vision. At a roadside shrine, Kip received a vision warning him that “the stars aren’t right.”
  • Sigzil’s stargazing. Aboard the C.P.H., Sigzil showed Ellery that stars were disappearing from the constellations. Ellery connected it to what she had been told about Frieza, the tyrant who destroys planets.
  • The star in Isidar’s constellation. On watch outside Green Hollow, Nelda and Arghen watched a bright star in the constellation of Isidar the Conqueror suddenly flare and then vanish entirely. Arghen took it as a dark omen for the dragon he was hunting. Nelda was unsettled by how sudden the star’s “death” was. (Isidar the Conqueror was the ancient conqueror unmasked in Campaign 1 as Commander Red.)
  • The Whisper’s map. When the Cacklers opened The Whisper’s astral lockbox, they found, alongside six Star Orbs, a map detailing the disappearance of various stars across the sky.

Open questions

  • What is causing the stars to vanish, and why the Whisper was mapping it.
  • Whether Ellery’s suspicion about Frieza is right.
  • Whether it is connected to The War in the Heavens.
