The heavens
The stars aren’t right
Mayor Eliza Windrider kept repeating that “the stars are not right,” and a friend had told her the constellations were changing. Kip received the same warning in a vision at a roadside shrine. Sigzil later pointed out stars disappearing from constellations, and Nelda and Arghen watched a star in the constellation of Isidar the Conqueror flare and vanish. The Whisper’s lockbox held a map tracking the disappearances. Ellery connects it to Frieza, the destroyer of planets. What is causing it is unknown. See The Vanishing Stars.
The war in the heavens
Cyrollellee told Kip of a growing fracture and war among the heavens. Ruby later saw The Trickster admit he had started a civil war among the gods by intercepting divine invitations and rerouting mortal prayers. Brandoboris was chased off for breaking a “divine agreement.” How the war will reach the mortal world is unknown. See The War in the Heavens.
The Star Orbs and Kami
If Kami dies, the Star Orbs go with him.

After the Cell Games
Belle Pepper and Ruby in the gods’ war
Ruby vanished mid-fight at The Cell Games as the price of The Trickster’s bargain, and Belle Pepper was removed from the battlefield when the Games ended, summoned by her own god. Both were called to serve as representatives in the civil war among the deities, The War in the Heavens. Why they left is known. What has happened to them since is not.

The Velvet Truffle Company
The Mistress
The Mistress stands above the Velvet Truffle Company. The Grand Confectioner’s memo reminds the company’s leaders of her directive to leave The Cacklers alone. The Gnoloo works for her: he told the party so when he collected a crate of volatile green and purple crystals from Coghaven to take “back to the Mistress,” and he is also the transport whale that carried Kellem Stormforge’s chest toward Chonkerton for her. Who or what she is, and what she wants with the chest and the crystals, is unknown.
Khalor, the eggs, and Arghen
A company member reported seven dragon eggs, six showing signs of life. Catman said Khalor was using company technology to hatch them, possibly at headquarters on Choco Island, and the Sugar Cartel reported the eggs ahead of schedule. Khalor also finished an unnamed assignment in the Salt Desert, where the party’s families had fled. At the gallows he seized Arghen alive and flew off. Arghen’s long sleeps turned out to be Khalor’s doing. Why Khalor wants him is unknown.
The Saline Coast under the company
The company took over the Saline Coast with Cedric Lightharbor as puppet mayor. Catman is sealed in a timed detention orb, and Bran’s Old Adventuring Party was last heard fighting company forces outside the Mercenary’s Rest so the Fellowship could escape. The party debated an underground rebellion.
Escher’s enemies
The Pale Fang and Seraphina Rusk
Escher took jobs from the Pale Fang, including the killing of Kenton Rusk, and accepted a contract on Bulma Briefs without telling the others. After he declared his and Fable’s business with the Pale Fang finished, Scuzz warned that “the circle” would decide their fate. Kenton’s widow, Seraphina Rusk, is hunting Escher too. Who the promised “white whale” was meant to be is unknown.
