Quick facts
Campaign: Campaign 2 · Session: 80 of 83 · Arc: Coghaven · Where: Coghaven; Udon Heights; aboard The Odd At Sea
With Coghaven’s overseers overthrown, Wilbur gathered the gnomes and declared it their independence day. He told them they were no longer slaves and urged them to rebuild Coghaven into the greatest gnome city in the world, because the Black Parade carries on. Gen Way shoved him aside to tell the crowd that this idiot and his friends had taken advantage of a distraction that cost the Black Parade nearly all of their lives, then went to bed. The city erupted in celebration as news of freedom spread through every hive of Coghaven. Far away, Puss Wayne (Catman) sat in his cell, certain someone would come for him one day.
Wilbur comforted Gen, telling her she had done her best and that Goric would be proud. She told him Goric had loved him very much and had known him as Cedric, a family name passed down through generations. Wilbur learned that Goric had led a mission through Packaging, Shipping & Logistics to a special bay with teleportation circles, where his team was cornered before they could work out how to use them. Goric was taken to the forge while the rest were sent to the workers. From the forge he ended up in Dr. Wheelo’s vats, where the party had found him as the shriveled gnome labeled “expired” (Session 78). Wilbur gave 500 gold toward rebuilding, and Otto suggested checking the bay. Its three teleportation circles shipped directly to warehouses in West City, the Kingdom of Penne, and a KrawlMart distribution center in the Ramen Empire. The party contacted Captain Teft to meet them in the landlocked town of Udon Heights.
The party introduced a bewildered Cabba to their chaotic dynamic and explained Catman’s situation. Masha revealed that she was from Beerlia, where the Velvet Truffle Company was spreading, and that she had formed a resistance called The Free Pour before a job went wrong and she woke up in Coghaven. She recognized Escher as one of the Reverie siblings and mentioned that his sister Lyra had been helping the Free Pour, often without knowing they were turning her ideas into action. She added that the Reverie Family was holding strong against the VTC. Masha agreed to join the party until she could learn what happened to her crew. Under Masha’s pass without trace, the party teleported into the KrawlMart warehouse in Udon Heights and slipped out while the loss prevention manager berated an employee. When Masha mentioned that Kenton Rusk, husband of Sweet Lord Seraphina Rusk, was dead, Escher admitted he had assassinated him, and that the Pale Fang had wanted Kenton specifically, along with his ring.
An airship descended from the clouds: a ship frame lifted by helicopter propellers. Captain Teft welcomed Wilbur aboard the first airship not powered by magic, The Odd At Sea. The party threw the Asset Songbird tracker overboard. Alone with Cabba, Ellery asked whether he planned to stay home. Cabba said he needed to find where he belonged, thanked her for everything she had endured to save him, and told her that as a Saiyan warrior she made him proud. He apologized for how their last meeting had gone and told her that if her feelings were unchanged, she need only say one word. Ellery kissed him as the rest of the FAM scurried away and Kip threw endless confetti. Cabba then told her he had never had a moment’s doubt and loved her completely, and that he regretted not telling her before he left.
