Quick facts
Type: Magical material that lifts ships · Known core: stolen from Ibeesee’s vault, later the heart of the Rootbeer Float
Brumestone is the material that lets ships fly. Normally an airship needs it.
In Campaign 1
The Cacklers stole a Brumestone core from Ibeesee’s vault in the Silent Vaults on Scotch on the Rocks and carried it off in a portable hole (C1 Chapter 04).
The core later kept the Rootbeer Float in the air. Over Rice Town, a Rose Ribbon Army soldier was found standing over it as it shrank. The core started to levitate and the ship fell. When Terra Misu Umber grabbed it, the ship floated again for a moment, and when the shrinking spell wore off and the core returned to its full size and weight, the ship plunged onto the ice. Greene saved the core with his Power Pole and set it on a pedestal in Grimscale Tower, where it glowed and lit everything around it (C1 Chapter 12).
In Campaign 2
When Wilbur asked whether The Odd At Sea could be made an airship, Bulma Briefs said such a ship would normally require brumestone, but that she had been looking to prototype an alternative (Session 70). A Velvet Truffle Company executive reasoned that an airship that didn’t need brumestone would make mines, ports, and harbor chokepoints worthless (Session 71). Captain Teft later welcomed Wilbur aboard the first airship not powered by magic (Session 80).
