Quick facts

Campaign: Campaign 2 · Session: 44 of 83 · Arc: Back on the Saline Coast · Where: Saline Coast

Back at the Saline Coast, the group focused on rebranding to stay clear of the Velvet Truffle Company. After a short discussion, they renamed their ship The Odd At Sea. While checking for surveillance, Escher found a tracking device disguised as a bar of chocolate and cleverly planted it on another vessel to throw off pursuers. Around town they ran into Puss Wayne (Catman), who was running for mayor against Nelda’s estranged father, Thalorian Valedriss, whom he called a puppet of the Velvet Truffle Company. Puss Wayne suggested the dragon eggs might be at VTC headquarters on Choco Island.

He also identified the gold dragon as Khalor the Dreamreaper and explained that Khalor was in a partnership with the Velvet Truffle Company, using their technology to hatch his children. That set off a moral debate within the group about whether baby dragons would be inherently evil, with Arghen arguing for their destruction. Separately, Ellery talked with Nelda about her personal life and admitted a crush on Prince Vegeta, along with her insecurities about their age gap. Then Nappa called to warn her that another Saiyan, Kale, was angry and coming to fight her.

Things took a dramatic turn when Kip’s mother unexpectedly arrived at their inn with devastating news: Kip’s father, Broul, had died ten days earlier. In the middle of his grief, Kip learned that the paper he had signed without reading in Session 28, handed to him by his ex-fiancée Alana, was actually a marriage contract. It legally bound him to Alana and gave her sole control over all his “financial, domestic, magical, and romantic decisions,” cutting his family out of their farm and assets. The group was left reeling, weighing their many new problems: the dragon eggs, Escher’s assassination jobs, Ellery’s coming fight, and Kip’s binding, fraudulent marriage.
