After the battle the group finished off a lone remaining zombie, with Ellery landing the final blows. The close call left Kip worried he had been bitten, but he was unharmed. Wilbur had a heartfelt talk with his father, Grommash, who proudly retired Wilbur’s old nickname, “Wimpy Wilbur,” and renamed him “Regular Wilbur.” Impressed by his son’s leadership, Grommash offered to step down and make Wilbur leader of the Warhorde Clan. Wilbur respectfully declined, explaining that he was on his own path of vengeance.
With the threat gone, the group relaxed. Nelda and Kip talked about starting a band, which led Wilbur to reveal his own musical past in a band called “My Chemical Nomance” with his brother. Then Nelda received a magical message from her brother, Eldric, telling her that their parents had been arrested by Captain Eric Stormshield for harboring a fugitive: Nelda herself. The news cut Wilbur’s time with the clan short, and the group prepared to return to the Saline Coast to clear their names and save Nelda’s family.
Before leaving, Wilbur had a tender reunion with his adoptive mother, who lovingly embarrassed him in front of his friends by bringing out his childhood blanket. The group left the Warhorde and continued south to find Sylas Riverstride. A parrot led them to a man who explained that he was the “voice” for the mute healer Sylas. After Sylas healed Steve, the group explained their mission and learned that Sylas and Bran shared a history of betrayal.
Sylas and the party took a portal back to the Saline Coast, where the party split. Wilbur and the others went to Beachside Books to meet Tobias Bigsby and the ailing Eliza Windrider. In the hideout, Sylas healed Eliza and restored her to lucidity, and she told the party, “The stars aren’t right.” Nelda and Escher went to Nelda’s home to check on her brother. While they were talking, Nelda learned that guards were storming the property to arrest her.
