Quick facts
Campaign: Campaign 2 · Session: 25 of 83 · Arc: Curses, Sewers, and the Closing Ceremonies · Where: Saline Coast Sewers, Rusty Anchor, Mercenary’s Rest
After a hard fight against a mimic disguised as a treasure chest, the group met a mysterious old man in the sewers who introduced himself as “the Whisper”, a dear friend of the late Eldon Reed. He offered to trade information about the conspiracy run by Tobias Blackwood in exchange for their help finding a powerful, fate-changing artifact he believed was hidden somewhere on the Saline Coast. To prove his worth, he correctly identified Catman as Puss Wayne.
The group took the deal. The Whisper confirmed their suspicions: Tobias Blackwood had been manipulating events to destabilize the city and seize power, using Cedric Lightharbor as his puppet. He also offered to help Nelda sever her cursed bond with her glaive in the future. On the way out of the sewers, the group had a tense and nearly disastrous run-in with a basilisk.
At the top of the stairs, Harlan, the owner of the Rusty Anchor, confronted them. Wilbur misty-stepped and shoved him down the staircase, and the group escaped. They went to Bran and Sylas for more about the fate-changing artifact. Bran said he and Sylas had once searched for it. He didn’t know where it was now, but Sylas suspected the mortician, Victor, of pocketing it during their failed quest.
Back at the Mercenary’s Rest, Nelda put on a concert in disguise for her friends and the patrons. She got so into the performance that she didn’t notice her disguise had fallen away. At the end, a fan approached her and revealed himself to be Cedric Lightharbor Jr.
