The sewers under the Saline Coast are filthy, monster-filled tunnels. The FAM went down looking for answers in Session 23 and found The Whisper.
History
First descent (Sessions 23–25)
The party entered by a stairwell in the Rusty Anchor. A black pudding camouflaged against the filthy walls ambushed them right away. They moved carefully after that, avoiding random levers and trying not to touch the poop-smeared walls.
A huge swarm of scarabs then engulfed Nelda and left her near death. While she lay dying, the Squeebles doll on her chest glowed green and she found herself face to face with the spirit of Squeebles. He offered to take her place. She chose to live, said goodbye, and woke up with the lifeless doll on her chest.
After a fight with a mimic disguised as a treasure chest, the party met an old man who called himself “the Whisper,” a friend of the dead Eldon Reed. He traded them information about Tobias Blackwood’s conspiracy in exchange for help finding a fate-changing artifact. On the way out the party had a close call with a basilisk.
Later visits (Sessions 57–58)
Ellery went back down in Session 57 to ask the Whisper about getting to North City. In Session 58, after Lazra Vant and Thalorian Valedriss died, the scattered party regrouped in the sewers, then went to the Whisper’s hidden abode to tell him they were ready to leave. He led them from there into The Underdark.
