Quick facts
Campaign: Campaign 2 · Session: 66 of 83 · Arc: North City and the Cell Games · Where: The desert; North City: the warehouse district, CAGS, Cackler Barrel
Arghen woke in the back of a wagon crossing desert dunes. He had been in a deep trance for six days since the party left the Saline Coast. Bran explained that the Velvet Truffle Company had taken over the city after the death of Nelda’s father, forcing the group to move their families toward a desert sanctuary.
In North City, a golden cloud carried Elyon into the middle of the catastrophe in the warehouse district, where Ellery, Goku, Vegeta, and Gohan had become gargantuan Ozaroo apes and were leveling the area. The party worked with the veteran heroes to stop the giants before the city was destroyed. Wilbur and Kip gave cover and healing while Nelda aimed a cloud of daggers at the apes’ tails. Oolong unleashed a massive Spirit Bomb that caught both Vegeta and Gohan, weakening them badly. The tide turned when Greene severed Vegeta’s tail, and the prince reverted to his humanoid form and passed out. Soon after, Terra Misu sliced through Gohan’s tail with a flurry of strikes, reducing the giant ape to a helpless three-year-old.
At the same time, inside CAGS, The Whisper was still trying to break into the Cacklers’ private collection. The mind flayer nearly killed Reese by trying to devour his brain, stopped only by Sophie’s protective arcane ward. Sophie trapped him in a wall of force, and when he tried to escape across the planes, Belle Pepper (the Cacklers’ newest member; see Campaign 1.5) countered the spell and kept him there. Sophie and Belle Pepper finished him with a barrage of lightning and magic, and the Whisper died on the floor apologizing to someone named “Quixiokotle.” Afterward, Greene received a divine warning from Kami: a new guardian from Namek would be needed to maintain the power of the Star Orbs.
As the city began to recover, Wilbur had a private dinner with Bulma Briefs at the Cackler Barrel. Bulma gave him a specialized shock pistol, and he gave her a magically forged rose. Their evening was cut short by a disturbance in the hallway. Will Jr., standing watch outside the VIP room, was ambushed by an assassin named Scorch, who drove a flame blade through his chest and killed him instantly. The assassin stood over the body, ready to go after Bulma and Wilbur next.
